Horacio Rodriguez Larreta announced this Tuesday at a press conference that it will send a project to the Buenos Aires Legislature to immediately eliminate the tax on credit cards.
The head of government of the City of Buenos Aires recalled that the tax was “provisional”, since it had been established when the Nation took away the co-participation funds from the City. The president remarked that, although he will fulfill his promise, the national government still has not complied with the Court’s ruling: “We had the fair in January, we waited another month. Two months passed. We do not see any prospect of the national government complying”.
In this sense, the Buenos Aires official criticized President Alberto Fernández for not complying with the measure and for ratifying his position regarding the Court’s decision during his speech, at the opening of ordinary sessions, last week.
“Once again, the president attacks the city of Buenos Aires, treating the Argentines who live here or who visit us as if we were from another country. There it became clear to me that they will definitely never abide by the ruling.
In that framework, the mandatary He expressed: “We trust that the Court will enforce the ruling so that the funds begin to arrive normally, as the law says.” Then he added: “We are not willing to take another peso from our neighbors.”
Larreta criticized the political trial against the Court
The mayor of Buenos Aires also criticized the Government for its decision to initiate a political trial against the Court, after the ruling in favor of the City for the co-participation funds.
To this extent, he stressed: “It is yet another of the countless Kirchnerism attacks against Justice. They seek to annul one of the powers of the State, we are going to be there to stop the attempt, defend the institutionality and the republic”.
