At the Parque Metropolitano Cemetery in Barcelona, a posthumous tribute was paid to Second Sergeant Pedro José Carruido Cabello, 25 years old, murdered in the early hours of Saturday, January 3, during the United States attack, which bombed areas of Caracas.
This soldier who fell in the line of duty was a native of Barcelona, and was stationed in Fuerte Tiuna, in the “Colonel Surgeon Cevellón Urbina” Health Company.
Amid expressions of pain from family and friends, the coffin was moved to the cemetery located on the side of Trunk 9, on the Barcelona-Píritu road on the afternoon of this Tuesday, January 6.
His comrades in arms made a corridor of honor to receive the unit that was transporting the coffin, then they expressed solidarity with Carruido Cabello’s relatives, they also expressed words of condolences and highlighted his actions, G/B José Manuel Correa Osorio, second commander of the Comprehensive Defense Operational Zone 51 (Zodi-51) and the mayor of Barcelona, Sugey Herrera.
The soldier’s parents received the flag and uniform, and also the City of Barcelona order in its only class.
At the solemn ceremony, the honor guard was made up of uniformed personnel, the coffin was covered with the national flag, the trumpet and salute shots were played in honor of the soldier for his loyalty and bravery.
In Píritu also buried a hero
In the morning hours of this Tuesday, Píritu also mourned the death of a soldier of the country.
Yoicar José Brito Prepo, 27 years old, commander of the Platoon of the José Félix Rivas Portable Air Defense Missile Group Unit, murdered in Caracas during the criminal imperialist attack, was buried.
The mayor of that municipality, Lucía Córdoba, highlighted in the tribute that Brito Prepo “died in combat with his Igla-S in hand. Your people say goodbye to you, recognizing your commitment and sacrifice.”
