We support the people of Nicaragua, but we cannot get involved in the decisions of another country.

And when asked by the journalist, why Honduras does not condemn the human rights violations in Nicaragua, with the imprisonment of journalists and even priests, the deputy foreign minister argued that “the same thing happened in Honduras.”

He also indicated that “we come from being the opposition, we know how difficult it is, we know how difficult it is not to have the support of the international community, but we also know what happens when the capacity for dialogue is broken.”

He added that “today (Friday, October 7) precisely, during a breakfast, we put ourselves to order, in what we can generate or support so that there is a dialogue between the opposition and the government of Nicaragua, we believe that there can be be a way out so that conditions in Nicaragua improve.”

A group of permanent ambassadors from the countries of the continent proposed the draft resolution “The political and human rights crisis in Nicaragua”, where they express their “deep concern” for the serious situation of the Central American country that is subjugated with an iron fist by the dictatorship of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo.

The resolution will be item number 20 on the agenda of the General Assembly that will bring together 33 foreign ministers from the Americas. In the seven-point document, the member states of the region are urged to implement a “strategy” on the factors that contribute to the displacement of Nicaraguans and their need for protection, including the granting of asylum and other protection measures. , all based on a comprehensive approach to human rights and gender. It also demands the immediate and unconditional release of all political prisoners.
