On October 8, the Secretary of Security, Omar García Harfuch, presented the security strategy, which includes six entities with focused intervention and four main axes: attention to the causes, consolidation of the National Guard, strengthening of intelligence and investigation, and coordination with federal entities.
“It should be noted that, in the entities with the highest crime incidence, such as Guanajuato, Baja California, Chihuahua, Guerrero, Jalisco and Sinaloa, we have generated an intervention strategy to combat high-impact crimes based on the aforementioned strategy.” , he said that day.
However, this intervention did not give the expected results in three states, although reductions were achieved in Baja California, Chihuahua and Jalisco.

Neither the intervention of the federal government, nor the deployment of thousands of soldiers and guards, managed to reduce the violence in Guerrero. In that entity the homicides had a 75% increasegoing from 116 in September to 204 in October, the month in which the new security strategy was launched.
Last month, Guerrero faced episodes of violence such as the murder of Mayor Alejandro Arcos in Chilpancingo, as well as a confrontation between the criminal groups Los Granados and Guerrero Nueva Generación, which left 16 people dead.
Between January and October, Guerrero recorded 1,504 intentional homicides, which places it as one of the most violent entities in the country.
