The police detained a suspect for the murder of the manager of the Tata store located in Parque Rodó in the middle of a robbery, the Ministry of the Interior informed El Observador.
Telenoche reported in the first instance on the latest news. For this issue the Ministry of the Interior will give a press conference. On the afternoon of May 30, two criminals assaulted a Ta-Ta supermarket in Parque Rodó and shot Marcelo Demestoy, the 56-year-old manager of the store, with a shot.
Two armed criminals entered the premises, located on Maggiolo and Figueira streets, and reduced the clients and the three workers inside the place, one of them from the bakery and another from a cash register. Witnesses told El Observador that one of them remained at the door, watching, while the other entered the premises.
Once inside, one of the criminals took the 48-year-old security guard and the manager of the premises to a warehouse. The guard was struck on the head with the butt of the gun. He also shot the manager of the premises in the head, which caused his death. They took the money from the collection – about $4,000 – that he stole from a cash register.
