The Salvadoran authorities confiscated money and documents this Friday when they raided two houses where a Colombian citizen detained as a suspect in the murder of Paraguayan prosecutor Marcelo Pecci, which occurred in May 2022 in Colombia, was hiding, a minister reported.

“As part of the follow-up to the arrest of Margareth Chacón Zúñiga […]specialized units of the police and the prosecutor’s office carried out searches in two houses where he was taking refuge”, said the Minister of Justice and Security, Gustavo Villatoro, on his Twitter account.

The two raided houses are in the city of Antiguo Cuscatlan, eight km southwest of San Salvador.

“El Salvador will not be a refuge for criminals and we are willing to collaborate with other countries that seek to bring criminals to justice,” said the minister.
