Dr. Carlos Brandaris, from the Health Advisory Council of the Ministry of Health (Minsa), referred this Monday to the sale and distribution of rapid tests to detect Covid-19, after the weekend circulated on social networks that these were being sold at a local store.
He explained that for these tests to be for sale in stores, they must have the endorsement or approval of the Gorgas Commemorative Institute, and they still do not have this normal, then they have to be registered and approved by the Minsa.
He also added that, for these tests to be really valid, they must have a good sensitivity, that the cases be detected. “Obviously the Minsa, already with evidence, will have to take action in this regard, such as sanctioning businesses,” he explained.
Regarding the omicron variant and the number of figures, the doctor indicated that of all the deaths that are taking place, 90% of the deceased are not adequately vaccinated, do not have any dose or only have one.
Brandaris specified that everyone says that ómicron is milder and it is true, but with the number of cases that we have, even if it is milder, people go to hospitals, and if they have comorbidities they are in danger.
