Holy Week concluded 187 accidents and 547 alcoholic intoxications

The Emergency Operations Center (COE) reported this Monday through its final bulletin of the Holy Week operation “Awareness for Life 2022” a total of 187 traffic accidents, 547 alcoholic poisonings, 209 food poisonings and 43 people affected by drowning.

As reported by the COE, of 187 traffic accidents, 257 people were affected, being 140 on motorcycles, 33 on light vehicles, 12 run over, 4 heavy vehicles and 1 bicycle.

In contrast, of a total of 547 people intoxicated by alcohol, 28 were minors between 2 and 17 years old. Likewise, 209 people with food poisoning were reported.

In addition, the authorities carried out 12,681 assistance to the public and rescued 53 people in high seas and spas.

On the other hand, during the holiday 5 million people displaced through the different highways and roads of the country.

The 2022 Holy Week operation took place from 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, to 6 p.m. on Sunday, April 17.

Deaths in Easter

The 2022 Easter operation ended with 34 deaths in total. Among the deceased, 18 were due to motorcycles, 4 due to being run over, 3 due to a light vehicle and 9 due to drowning.

It should be noted that of all 34 deaths inside and outside the operation, motorcycles accounted for 53%, drowning 26%, run over 12% and light vehicle 9%.

While of a total of 25 deaths from traffic accidents inside and outside the operation, 72% were due to motorcycles.
