In statements to Peru21the president of the Exporters Association (ADEX), Julio Pérez, stated that, in the case of his sector, costs increase when they ship in holidays because “the free days that exist in our country do not apply to clients from abroad.”

“The situation is very critical because foreign clients do not care that we have these non-working days, they ask that the times be met. All this makes us unproductive, more expensive, more inefficient,” he added.

In that sense, he reported that they are coordinating with the Minister of Labor and Employment Promotion, Daniel Maurate, so that the four holidays that were incorporated in recent years.

Recently, Maurate announced that the elimination of some of these days off will be included as a topic of debate in the next session of the National Labor Council (CNT).

Julio Pérez pointed out that if Peru aims to be part of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), it must consider that in member countries, the average between holidays and vacations amounts to 30 days, while in our economy in total there are 46 (30 for vacations and 16 for holidays).
