Holidays December 8 and 9: Learn how to calculate the additional payment you must receive if you work these days

This Thursday, December 8 and Friday, December 9 is a national holiday. Peruvians will be able to take advantage of these dates to enjoy their days off and make a trip. But if due to a labor requirement, you must work these days and you belong to the private regime, the explains how to calculate additional income and how much your salary should be at the end of the month.

It should be remembered that the days declared as national holidays are part of the annual calendar and were established to commemorate historical events. Thursday the 8th will be a holiday for the Catholic date of the Immaculate Conception and, for the first time, this Friday the 9th will be a holiday for the battle of Ayacucho, both for the public and private sectors.

How to calculate the payment that you must receive for working on December 8 and 9?

If you work in person or remotely, you must receive two daily salaries in addition to your monthly salary.

For example, in the event that your monthly remuneration is S/1,025, your daily remuneration is S/34.17. This is deducted by dividing your salary by 30 days (1,025/30).

By knowing how much you receive per day, you can calculate what your payment would be. The following would correspond to you:

  • A remuneration for the work done: $34.17
  • A remuneration for the surcharge of 100%: $34.17

In total it would be S/68.34 for each working holiday addition to your monthly salary.

So, S/ 68.34 x 2 holidays worked = S/ 136.68.

At the end of the month, you will receive a total of S/1161.68.

It should be noted that, in the event that your employer grants you rest days in substitution for each holiday worked, you will no longer receive the additional amount.

What happens if the employer does not comply with the additional benefits?

Employers who do not comply with making the additional payment or granting compensation for substitute rest for the holidays they work would be committing a very serious infraction in terms of labor rights. The fines, depending on the type of company (micro, small and not mype), can fluctuate between S/1,058 to S/ 241,638.
