The prolonged holiday of Easter and Tiradentes should be of intense rainfall in the states of Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo, Sao Paulo, Mato Grosso do Sul and Bahia, the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) reported. In addition, the agency said, the passage of a cold front through the ocean should impact some areas of the southern region of the country.
Today (18), rain showers with thunderstorms are expected to the south-central region of Mato Grosso do Sul. In São Paulo, the most significant rains should occur in the west and north center of the state between today and tomorrow (19). On the coast of São Paulo, the rains should be more moderate. On Sunday, some locations in São Paulo must have a temperature drop.
In the south, the arrival of a new cold front that began to move today through the ocean should cause instability in the region. The center-north of Rio Grande do Sul will be the first to be reached, with the advance of the system scheduled for tomorrow (19) and Sunday (20). West of Santa Catarina and Paraná should also be hit. The forecast is moderate rainfall in the region.
From the weekend, the cold air mass should favor the formation of weak frost in the south of the country.

Today (18), Inmet has released two orange alerts about the risk of heavy rainfall. The orange alert is the second of the highest gravity on the scale, below the red alert, and means danger situation.
The first warning is worth until tomorrow (19) and reaches the regions of the Rio Doce Valley, Mucuri Valley, North Region and Jequitinhonha Valley, Minas Gerais, the Northwest of Espírito Santo and Sul and South Center of Bahia. In these areas are rain between 30 to 60 mm/h or between 50 to 100 mm/day.
The second alert is valid only for today, and reaches Paraná, Mato Grosso do Sul and some regions of the interior of São Paulo such as Presidente Prudente, Assisi and Marília. In these areas, rainfall can reach up to 100 millimeters per day and there may be intense winds between 60 and 100 kilometers per hours.
