The Municipality of Asunción reached an agreement with the peasant leaders so that they can enter the site and use it as a concentration point in the capital. The commitment is that they take care of the property and do not destroy the green spaces.
In a press conference, municipal authorities, police and peasant leaders, announced the agreement reached for the protesters to enter the Plaza Uruguaya, which this Monday dawned under lockdown to prevent it from being occupied.
The initial provision of the municipality was to prohibit the entry of demonstrators, since the Plaza Uruguaya was recently beautified. With the agreement reached, the peasants promised to take care of her during their stay.
“We must be realistic and reach an agreement through dialogue, in order to maintain order within the city and avoid any inconvenience to citizens,” said the mayor of Asunción, Óscar Rodríguez.
