What is known about the hitman attack?
The mayor of Cúcuta, Jorge Acevedo, provided details about the attack, explaining that three hitmen approached the vehicle and fired at the occupants, killing the bodyguard, the protected man and the man’s son.
The attackers used long-range weapons and were travelling in a vehicle which they later abandoned at kilometre 8 of Los Patios.
Although they tried to set fire to the car, the community alerted the authorities, who found the clothes the gunmen had worn during the attack at the scene.
