Those who think that Evo Morales and the MAS “evista” are in the middle of executing a coup against Luis Arce to shorten his mandate are mistaken. Now it is no longer a classic old-fashioned coup, but a departmental coup. The coup is directed against Santa Cruz, against the Santa Cruz institutions, against Luis Fernando Camacho, its governor; as before they tried to do it with Rubén Costas.
A greater state of the coup has been armed in San Julián, to which other regions of Santa Cruz influenced by the Andean-masista majority obey. The objective is to overthrow Camacho and bring him to justice, that is, without further ado, lock him in a dungeon like Jeanine Áñez, to set a clear precedent for revenge. Before, for several years, they wanted to do it with Costas, but it failed them because Rubén Costas had the ability to know how to “fight” them with an admirable political capacity, even if that led him to make gratuitous enemies in Santa Cruz itself.
The MAS has not been able to democratically occupy the Governor’s Office of Santa Cruz nor the Mayor’s Office. Therefore, it has decided to do it de facto. They are going to try to bury (or banish) Camacho without giving him any peace. There will be brief truces, conditioned to exaggerated requests, impossible to fulfill, because the MAS itself will ensure that the necessary economic resources do not flow. And work intensely because, for the MAS to definitively take over the country, it has to take over our institutions. They are in this task and it is easy to see it.
The democratic system is failing everywhere in our country. This is a poorly made caricature of democracy. The only democratic thing that remains is the vote, a vote that is not used to elect but rather to cunningly demonstrate that an institutional framework exists. A democracy of that style is useless, because democracy is, fundamentally, respect for the laws, for the Constitution, and this is the country of unconstitutional outrages since Evo Morales assumed power more than a quarter of a century ago.
The path of the departmental coup is open, while we Cruceños are thinking about lost oxen.
