65 years of radio Río Branco in a night of tributes full of emotion, memory and projection
With great success and a wide participation of authorities and neighbors, the 65 years of Radio Río Branco were celebrated in Río Branco, in a day full of emotion, memory and projection towards the future.
The activity was attended by the mayor of the Municipality of Río Branco, Federico López; the mayor of Laguna Merín, Rodolfo Conde; the mayor of Fraile Muerto, Gastón Nauar; former mayor José Yurramendi; and other departmental and local authorities that accompanied this new anniversary of the historic border station.
TRIBUTES TO THOSE WHO MADE HISTORY
Within the framework of a camaraderie meeting held at night, a heartfelt tribute was held to figures who marked the path of radio. Raquel Balero, Rafael Souza and Albino Olmedo—grandfather of current director Alejandro Olmedo—were recognized for their commitment and contribution over the years.
During the ceremony, commemorative plaques were unveiled in Studio 1, Studio 2 and in the future operator’s cabin, thus reflecting the institutional recognition of those who forged the station’s identity.
MUSIC IN THE STREET AND SPORTS IN THE AIR
At the same time, in the middle of a public street, a musical artistic show took place that attracted numerous neighbors. Different artists participated in the festivities, bringing rhythm and joy to a celebration that transcended the studies and turned to the community.
Within the framework of the celebrations, a new edition of the traditional Double Thirty Three – Río Branco, a cycling competition over 120 kilometers in stages, was also held. The radio team worked intensely to cover and broadcast the event, reaffirming its commitment to regional sports.
A SAMPLE THAT RESCUES THE MEMORY
Another notable attraction is the historical exhibition that remains in the station’s hall. There, Professor Luis Miller, through his museum, presented an exhibition with elements that were part of the old radio: cassettes, tapes, old equipment, historical photographs and records showing former officials who were part of different stages of the institution.
A proposal that allows us to explore the technological and human evolution of the station, connecting generations through collective memory.
NEW INSTITUTIONAL STAGE
In this context of celebration, it was also officially confirmed that Alejandro Olmedo took over as the station’s permit holder, following a recent order from the Executive Branch. In this way, a new formal stage begins in the management of the radio, consolidating the continuity of a thriving medium that, over 65 years, has become a symbol of regional identity and integration.
Radio Río Branco celebrates its history, honors those who built it and reaffirms its commitment to continue being the voice of the border.
