The MEC declares Santa Teresa Park and School No. 70 of Rocha a National Historical Monument

The ministry will establish a “revaluation process” of the properties for their “conservation and protection,” he reported.

The National Cultural Heritage Commission (CPCN) of the Ministry of Education and Culture (MEC) will declare the Santa Teresa National Park, in Rocha, and School No. 70 of that department a National Historical Monument.

The ceremony will take place today, Tuesday, November 19 at 3:00 p.m. in the aforementioned Roche park.

“The declaration as a National Historical Monument of the Santa Teresa National Park includes its cultural, architectural, archaeological, landscape and artistic assets. In the case of Rural School No. 70, it also includes the surrounding forested area,” the MEC said in a statement.

Thus, according to the portfolio, both properties will be incorporated into the list of national cultural assets “due to their unique and invaluable value.” “They are historical and prehistoric archaeological areas, representative of an important period of our country and the region, for witnessing the activity carried out by human groups that populated that territory,” emphasizes the published text.

Starting with the tribute act, the MEC will establish a revaluation process “that will lead to the conservation and protection of this cultural heritage of great scientific, educational and tourist potential,” the statement concludes.
