The Government awarded the Historic Center of Cusco Hierarchy 4, the highest tourism distinction in the country, in recognition of its exceptional value, international relevance and contribution to sustainable tourism development, placing it at the level of Machu Picchu, the Lines and geoglyphs of Nasca and Palpa and the Amazon River.
The ceremony was held at the Garcilaso de la Vega stadium, led by President José Jerí Oré and the Vice Minister of Tourism, Aracelly Laca, together with regional and local authorities, and will allow Mincetur to prioritize planning, promotion and investment in infrastructure to improve the visitor experience.
The Historic Center of Cusco, ancient heart of Tahuantinsuyo and Cultural Heritage of Humanity since 1983, It is thus added to the other four resources of Hierarchy 4 in the region, within the framework of coordinated work between the central government, the Chamber of Commerce and the municipalities to strengthen tourism, regional production and its insertion into export markets.
