Hispam Digital Forum brought together experiences from the public and private sectors on digital transformation in the region

Telefónica Hispanoamérica held the third edition of the Hispam Digital Forum in Lima with the aim of sharing and discussing the aspects of greatest interest regarding the main trends in digital transformation of companies and institutions, bringing together voices from the public and private sectors that are at the cutting edge of digital transformation.

During the forum, various trends that will mark the digital agenda of companies this 2023 were discussed. One of the most important points will be cybersecurity; According to the Movistar Empresas 2022 Digital Adoption Survey, it is a necessity for businesses regardless of their size. In this sense, 85% of companies state that building a cyber-resilient business is a priority, with the capacity to overcome a security incident and maintain business continuity.

As a point linked to security is cloud technology. In this new environment, companies seek agility through a robust and flexible cloud-based IT infrastructure. It should be noted that Telefónica has cybersecurity and cloud solutions, with global units that support its capabilities in each country. As an example of this, a Data Operation Center was recently inaugurated in Colombia, which will monitor and supervise security and cloud services throughout the region 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

As part of the agenda, Telefónica and Nokia announced a strategic alliance to accelerate the digital transformation of companies in Latin America through the development of private IoT (Internet of Things) networks with the ‘Industrial IoT Network’ (IIoTN) solution. specifically designed to interconnect all the smart devices of a company. Private IoT networks allow the formation of systems that collect, monitor and analyze key data to drive the digital transformation of the business, as well as its evolution towards the Industry 4.0 concept.

In this edition of the Hispam Digital Forum based in Peru, Marushka Chocobar, Secretary of Government and Digital Transformation of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, and Alfonso Gómez Palacios, CEO of Telefónica Hispanoamérica, participated in the discussion “Challenges for economic and sustainable growth from the country”. As part of his presentation, Alfonso Gómez Palacio reaffirmed Telefónica’s commitment to Peru and the company’s track record of nearly three decades.

In addition, a panel was held “Expectations for business growth from digitization”, in which Juan Vicente Martín, B2B director of Telefónica Hispanoamérica; Pedro Cortez, CEO of Telefónica del Peru; Fernando Eguiluz, CEO of the BBVA bank; and Lieneke Schol, independent director.

During this panel, it was discussed how connectivity is a fundamental element to accelerate the transformation of the country, and the digitalization challenges faced by companies and the public sector. Likewise, the role of talent management to manage the digitization of organizations was addressed.

In addition, the presentation “Building resilient businesses” was made by José Luis Domínguez, Commercial Director of Telefónica Tech, and there was a presentation “Innovation for business disruption” by Ferrán Adrià, renowned Spanish chef and ambassador of Telefonica.
The Hispam Digital Forum included the participation of more than 170 international businessmen and partners of Movistar Empresas such as Nokia, Cisco, Fortinet, Huawei, Microsoft, Radware and HPE.
