Havana Cuba. – Political prisoner Alexander Díaz Rodríguez, imprisoned after the protests that took place on July 11, 2021 in Cuba, is in a “delicate state of health,” according to what he denounced in conversation with CubaNet his aunt Moraima Rodríguez Batista.
“It’s critical. The prison does not have medicines; They sent her a diet and they are not giving it to her, her health is critical,” the woman lamented.
According to the interviewee, Díaz Rodríguez suffers from throat cancer, a disease that he began suffering from when he was confined in the Guanajay prison and which is currently in the third phase.
The opponent is being held in the Kilo 5½ prison, in the province of Pinar del Río.
“He is getting a fever of 38 and 39 degrees; she is 110lbs and has no bra on her body. He has to lie down because he can hardly sit down, he is very weak, ”explained Rodríguez Batista.
Likewise, the woman assured that the prison authorities of Kilo 5½ and a half continue to deny her nephew the right to medical care and family visits.
“They don’t give him medical attention. His last visit was on September 26 and I couldn’t see him because they told me that they were giving him IVs in the infirmary. But the next day I receive a call from Alexander asking me why I didn’t go to the visit; and he told me that tears had come to his eyes thinking that I had abandoned him, ”says the woman.
Last August, Díaz Rodríguez himself denounced in conversation with CubaNet that the Cuban regime denied him the right to family visits in the Pinar del Río prison, as well as the necessary supplies, such as toiletries and containers to collect water.
On that occasion, he also denounced that the criminal authorities refused to take him to the prison medical station every time he requested it.
Díaz Rodríguez is a member of the Union for Cuba Libre Party and was sentenced to five years in prison for the alleged crimes of contempt and disorderly conduct, after being detained during the protests on July 11, 2021.
