In the most recent net employment survey, developed by the firm Manpower Group, they pose a job market growth outlook very strong in Colombia from July to September 2022, “with employers forecasting a Net Employment Outlook (NEO) of 43 percentage points”, as indicated in the firm’s document.

Likewise, the staff climate expectations they are strengthened by 3 percentage points compared to the second quarter of 2022 and by 30 points compared to the plans of the third quarter of 2021.
“We are optimistic about the acceleration in job creation and the recovery in almost all sectors of the industry. A reflection of the post-pandemic economic reactivation and market stabilization, although with some uncertainty due to electoral times”, said Javier Echeverri, Colombia country manager of the firm.
Among the sectors where this growth stands out the most, the manufacturing industry tops the list as the most competitive sector in Colombia, with a NEO of 61%, increasing 19 percentage points from the second quarter of 2022 and 59 percentage points from the third quarter of 2021.
“The NEO of this sector ranks first worldwide, surpassing the average NEO of 40 countries by 28 points,” the survey indicates.
Other sectors that stand out are wholesale and retail trade with a NEO of 51%; telecommunications, communications and media (49%); hotels and restaurants (46%) and primary production (46%), among others. The only sector that does not expect growth is non-profit firms.
At a global level, the survey included in this edition more than 40,000 employers. And this is how 28 of the 40 countries reported higher intentions than in the previous quarter.
“Employers around the world still expect to hire more workers in the third quarter of 2022, reporting a seasonally adjusted Net Employment Outlook of +33%. Hiring intentions increase year over year and quarter over quarter, +18% and +4%, respectively”, concludes the report.
Medium-sized organizations, optimistic
The survey released by Manpower revealed that employers in organizations with 50-249 employees are the most optimistic about a NEO of 58%, increasing 11 points percentage since the second quarter of 2022 and 44 points since this quarter of last year.
