The Former President of the Republic, Hipólito Mejíaexpressed this Friday that the oppositionspecifically, the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD)does not know what he is talking about when he complains that the Government has allowed the prices of agricultural products to rise.
The also agronomist attributed that agricultural production goes up and down, to the fact that the storms affected the plantations and a winter disease called Black Sigatoka; but he projected that in two months, the prices of bananas and other products will be in decline and that “they will be left over.”
Therefore, Mejía indicated: “They don’t know about it, there is no one who knows what they are talking about.”
The ex-president attributed to “cheap politicking” the PLD and expressed that within that party there is a “‘parrot who talks every day” and “he thinks he is saying a great thing”, referring to the senator from Elías Piña, Iván Lorenzo.
“There is no one to shut him up,” said the also leader of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM).
“They have to say something,” Mejía reiterated, since, according to the polls he conducts, President Luis Abinader has a 58% valuation, followed by Abel Martínez with 20% and Leonel Fernández with 13%.
“The important thing is that they stay that way so they don’t get anywhere,” Mejía said of the numbers he attributes to rival PRM candidates.
And in the case of his daughter Carolina Mejía, mayoress of the National District, the former president indicated that he has a valuation above 80%.
Hipolito Mejia spoke before leading the graduation of more than 600 students from the José Francisco Peña Gómez Political Training Institute.
