President Abinader inaugurates the new hopitalaria installation. School of 1,600 students.
Altagracia.-The President Luis Abinader had an intense work day in the La Altagracia province, focused on the inauguration of high -impact educational and health infrastructure, with the aim of improving the quality of life of citizens and responding to historical needs in the region.
Inaugurated the Higüey Traumatological Hospital, the first specialized in trauma attention throughout the east region, with an investment close to the RD $ 1,000 million.
This new health center will reduce transfers to other provinces, offer timely attention to emergencies and strengthen the National Network for Traumas, announced by the Government in 2022.
“This hospital represents a transformative change in the public health system. It is a direct response to a historical debt with this province and a firm step towards a more efficient and decentralized medical care network,” said the president.
In the educational area, the Head of State left four new school infrastructure in different sectors of the Higüey municipality, adding 46 new classrooms to the educational system for the next school year 2025-2026.
These works will benefit more than 1,600 students from the initial level to the primary.
Among the inaugurated centers are the José Francisco Peña Gómez elementary school, with 28 classrooms and an investment of RD $ 156.6 million, and the San Rafael Fe y Alegría Center, with 11 classrooms and a cost of RD $ 80 million. The Mata Chalupe Center, with six classrooms, and the initial level classroom of the Bejucalito Educational Center were also delivered.
The Minister of Education, Luis Miguel de Camps, stressed that these infrastructure represent not only physical spaces, but a reaffirmation of the government’s commitment to an inclusive, quality and accessible education.
During the opening acts, students such as Diana Lisbett de la Cruz and Yastin Chamelly Sánchez thanked the president for these works, who consider fundamental for their training and development.
On the same day, Abinader held an encounter with 300 young people from the other band, with whom he spoke about leadership, training opportunities, employment and social participation.
President Abinader stressed before young people the importance of English dominance, access to scholarships and continuous formation as key tools to break the poverty cycle.

Abinader emphasized that the government continues to expand the technical and higher educational offer in provinces such as Altagracia, through ITLA, Infotep and the UASD, along with a scholarship system.
