Members of the Highway Police of the detachment of the department of Thirty-three They seized 680,000 pesos in contraband merchandise destined for the capital of Olima.
The procedure began with the arrest of three vehicles that were going to the departmental capital with merchandise entered into the country illegally. Given the facts, the Prosecutor’s Office of 1st Turn of Thirty-Three ordered the seizure of the products and agreed to the search for two businesses related to these vehicles.
The entry of the police agents to the commercial premises took place days later in an operation with personnel from Caminera, the Departmental Headquarters and the National Customs Directorate.
Seizures and judicial prosecution
In the procedure, the authorities seized large quantities of products of Brazilian origin. Among other things, alcoholic beverages, meat, cold cuts, personal and household cleaning and hygiene products, among others, were found and confiscated.
In addition, during the raids they arrested five people who would appear before the Court of Justice of Thirty-Three of 4th Turn. Once the judicial instance was completed, the CMM and APLM women were charged with the crimes of reception under a real reiteration regime. Likewise, officials from the Public Ministry charged the men with the initials JFGL, HGRJ and LADLR for the crimes of smuggling as perpetrators.
The two women were found guilty of the crimes adjudicated and were sentenced to six months of effective compliance. On the other hand, for JFGL, a sentence of four months of effective prison was ordered.
The other two subjects were found guilty of the crimes charged and sentenced to three months in prison that were commuted to probation.
The total price of the seized merchandise, as well as that of the detained cars, added up to a total of 680,054 pesos.
