Jaime Bilbao, director of the Departmental Health Service (Sedes), confirmed that the operation, which is taking place today, Friday, has been possible thanks to the coordination between the Sedes, the Ministry of Health, and the Children’s Hospital. Bilbao stressed that the team has worked hard to secure all the necessary resources.
“The surgery is very complex and was achieved thanks to the collaboration and donation of supplies from the maternity hospital of the Caja Nacional. The girl is already in the operating room and we hope that everything goes well.”he said.
Ashly Soto was born with a congenital malformation that causes your heart is on the right side of your chest, in addition to other cardiac complications. This condition has put his life at serious risk since birth. The surgery will be performed in two stages, starting today with the heart intervention open including extracorporeal circulation, a procedure that requires specialized equipment that was not available in the country.
“We are very hopeful that the operation will be a success. Everyone’s help was very important,” said Yucel Flores, the little girl’s mother.
