High-level government team calls for dialogue in the province of Bocas del Toro

On behalf of the President of the Republic, Laurentino Cortizo Cohen, a high-level government team traveled to the province of Bocas de Toro to talk with the protesters and local authorities, with the aim of guaranteeing security and order in the place after from a land invasion to private property.

The Minister of Housing and Territorial Planning, Rogelio Paredes, who leads the team, informed the country that the 16 men and 3 women who are being detained are in good health and their rights are being respected.

Likewise, Paredes toured the Dr. Raúl Dávila Mena Hospital in Changuinola and verified that there are no injuries or deaths in the morgue. This information was confirmed by the Medical Director of that hospital, Dr. Ricardo Pineda.

The minister assured that the commission was able to verify that the information circulating on social networks regarding affected children and pregnant women supposedly hospitalized by the demonstrations is not true. The government team remains in the province to talk with the leaders.

Paredes, accompanied by the governor of the province Eleazar Gómez and a team from the Ministry of Government, called on the population to continue seeking spaces for dialogue on the basis of respect, civic order and peaceful coexistence to maintain social peace. . We reiterate our commitment to all sectors to find timely solutions for the benefit of the country.
