High-Level Executive Commission will meet with protesters from southern Ayacucho on November 11

High-Level Executive Commission will meet with protesters from southern Ayacucho on November 11

The delegation of the Government of Pedro Castillo that went to the south of Ayacucho was able to reach preliminary agreements with the inhabitants of the provinces of Lucanas, Parinacochas and Paucar del Sara Sara, who had initiated an indefinite strike against mining activity in the headwaters of the basin.

The first agreement they reached was to hold a meeting with the High Level Commission of the Executive for Thursday, November 11, at the Municipal Coliseum of the city of Cora Cora in Parinacochas. The authorities and leaders have requested the presence of the president of the Council of Ministers, Mirtha Vasquez. This is how it reads in the minutes of this October 31 to which this medium had access.

The agenda will have three points. First, the group that will represent the provinces will present complaints related to water contamination; then it will expose the complaints about the mining companies that affect the environment. Finally, they will talk about infrastructure projects: they will seek to reach a consensus with local authorities and the national government on a development plan for the southern provinces of Ayacucho.

They also agreed to reject “all political persecution in the three southern provinces of Ayacucho” and promised to “Continue with the dialogue in a climate of social peace.” Similarly, it was agreed that “the parish priest of Parinacochas begins the meeting (on November 11) with a prayer, in order to invoke dialogue.”

They will ask the Ombudsman for his intervention

Finally, they will request “the Ombudsman’s Office its intervention in order to guarantee, within the framework of its functions, the fundamental rights of the people who are being investigated for the events that occurred in recent days ”.

The day before, on October 30, the Prime Minister, Mirtha Vasquez, had already announced that the communities of southern Ayacucho had agreed to initiate a process of dialogue with the Executive in order to find solutions to social conflict. It had also reported that protesters had lifted protest measures in the conflict zone.

In this way, the Executive has managed to calm the waters momentarily after the protests and the Lucanas protesters set fire to the mining camp of the Apumayo company, located on the heights of Sancos, according to Coracora TV.
