SLP, Mexico.- A report from the site WalletHub revealed that Hialeah is the second safest city in Florida, only behind Port St. Lucie.
The site compared 182 cities in the country by analyzing various data to obtain a score in three different categories (home and community safety, financial security and risk of natural disasters).
Regarding home security, the site estimated the presence of terrorist attacks, number of mass shootings, crimes per capita, including murder, rape, assault, robbery and hate crimes, number of sex offenders per capita, employees of law enforcement per capita and traffic fatalities.
Hialeah It was ranked 53rd overall, and is the second safest city in the Sunshine State to live in according to the WalletHub index published in October of this year.
In the home and community safety category, it ranked as the 11th safest, according to the report.
However, in the financial security category (which looked at unemployment rate, fraud, percentage of uninsured population, foreclosure rate, credit score and job security) it ranked 174th.
In the risk of natural disasters, which includes the risk of earthquakes, river floods, hail, hurricane storms, tornadoes, forest fires, step 116 was earned.
Port St. Lucie, for its part, appears among the 40 safest cities in the country, and is ranked 32nd as the safest in Florida.
“When people think about the safety of a city, their minds most likely immediately go to things like the crime rate, the auto fatality rate or the risk of natural disasters,” said Chip Lupo, an analyst. from WalletHub.
Near Hialeah, and in 59th place, is Cape Coral. Pembroke Pines follows, at 73; Saint Petersburg, at 101; Tampa, in 116th place; Miamiin 124; Orlando, at 168 and Fort Lauderdale at 180.
Among the 182 cities analyzed, the “safest” in the entire US, according to WalletHub, are South Burlington, Casper, Warwick, Burlington and Boise.
“America’s safest cities protect residents from these threats of bodily harm and property damage, but they also help ensure people’s financial security. “Financial security includes things like minimizing the risk of fraud and identity theft, keeping people employed and insured, and combating homelessness,” Lupo said.
In the last five positions and classified as the most insecure, are Memphis, Detroit, Fort Lauderdale, Baton Rouge and New Orleans.
