"Hey, damn, my nephew wants to renounce his nationality and they won't let him": Andrés Hurtado's claim to the former head of Immigration

Andrés Hurtado faces 18 months of preventive detention in the Lurigancho prison, due to the investigations against him for the alleged crimes of passive bribery, corruption and influence peddling to the detriment of the State. The request made by the Prosecutor’s Office, and ratified by the Judiciary, was based—within the different indications of the investigation—on the statements of the Siucho Neira brotherswho accepted the sincere confession and accused the former television host of boasting about the power of influence he would have had within public entities.

One of them, the close friendship with Roxana del Águilaformer head of the National Immigration Superintendence and who allegedly helped, at the request ofAndres Hurtado, to Roberto Siucho Neira in his process to renounce Peruvian nationality in 2019. This was stated by the footballer in his statements to the Prosecutor’s Office, where he narrates how he met Del Águila.

“A friend told him that he knew the person who could help him and introduced him to him, this person being Andrés Hurtado. At that moment Hurtado, upon learning of the problem he had with immigration, called a person on his cell phone (whose identity he did not know). )”, are the first statements by Roberto Siucho about how he met ‘Chibolín’. “However, Andrés Hurtado told his interlocutor ‘Hey damn, my nephew wants to renounce his nationality and they won’t let him’, then he asked for his ID and later indicated that the person he contacted was the Superintendent of Immigration and that he had put her in that position“, reads the judicial resolution to which La República had access.

This is how Hurtado, Siucho and Del Águila met

Subsequently, according to what the footballer stated before the Prosecutor’s Office, it was that the meeting took place between Roxana del Águilathe former television presenter and Roberto Siucho. “The next day, the declarant along with Andrés Hurtado and ‘Chavito’ went to an apartment located in Golf de los Incas – Surco, where he met Superintendent Roxana del Águila for the first timeAndrés Hurtado told him that the declarant was his nephew and told him about the problem of his nationality. “According to the statement, the soccer player had to renounce his Peruvian nationality for sporting reasons to obtain Chinese nationality. “That same day, or within days of said meeting, he went to immigration and the nationality process was already done,” added Siucho Neira.

However, this help would not have been free. Although there was no price, ‘Chibolín’ told Roberto Siucho that “favor is repaid with favor, love with love and that had not cost him anything, I just hoped that when he needed to do social work in his program that he would not turn his back on him.” In addition to the close relationship with Roxana del Águila, Andrés Hurtado told him that had “influences with the highest levels of the State and that he had a prosecutor ‘mom’ in money laundering matters,” presumably referring to prosecutor Elizabeth Peralta, who today also faces the same investigation but with restricted appearance.
