The legislator’s concepts were expressed during the Herrerista congress held on Saturday 23. The central axis of the meeting was the confrontation with the political and social left, as was made explicit in the final declaration, among other moments.
“We are convinced that we are traveling freely and responsibly along the path that leads to improving the lives of Uruguayans,” the statement states.
“Reality has flatly denied, time and time again, each one of the stories with which the opposition of the Broad Front and the PIT-CNT has tried to question the government’s policies and put spokes in the wheel of the management.”
“As an inventory, it is enough to remember the predictions of catastrophes such as: “the coalition is going to break”, “there are no vaccines, no vaccination plan”, “the CTIs are going to be saturated”, “avoidable deaths”, “consequences refusals of the LUC”, “famine and hunger”, “he adds.
He notes that “looking to the future, Herrerismo faces the second half of the government period by redoubling its efforts to defend and promote the action of the national government, with the prosperity of Uruguayans as the main objective.”
“This is demonstrated by the salary agreements reached with COFE, the education unions and the police, the advances in seeking to open new markets and the improvement of conditions to place the work of Uruguayans abroad, the commitment to that the growth of the economy is reflected in the reduction of personal income tax and retirement tax starting next year, and the settlement regularization program”.
According to the statement: “The success of the national government’s management is evidenced by very important achievements. In addition to being a world example in the fight against COVID-19, the economy, exports of national production and employment have grown to pre-pandemic levels, social policies have focused on not forgetting any compatriot on the side of the road, and in terms of security, the numbers of thefts, robberies and cattle rustling have fallen significantly, and the fight against drug trafficking has intensified.
Under the slogan “The strength of the government”, the meeting featured a report on parliamentary activity by Penadés, as well as a political report by the Secretary General and Minister of the Interior, Luis Alberto Heber.
The political report referred to the House of Representatives was offered by the deputy Sebastián Andújar
Former President Luis Alberto Lacalle was absent because he was out of the country, sending a message of greeting to the assembly.
The activity closed with a space for the youth of the sector, who -representing all the departments of the country- were analyzing the next elections of the youth of the National Party.
