The Minister of Health, Hernando Cevallos, ruled out that he is evaluating the possibility of resigning from the position or that President Pedro Castillo has recommended that he leave the position he has held since the beginning of the Government.
“[¿Está pensando en renunciar?] Not true, no way. I have already indicated that letters have been sent to the Comptroller General, the Attorney General, to review this case that has been raised, but in no way has any kind of resignation been raised. [¿Se lo ha pedido el presidente?] Not in any way”, responded to RPP on Friday morning.
Hernando Cevallos reiterated in this way that no type of irregular act or influence peddling has been committed after the dissemination of conversations via WhatsApp in which it is shown that he would have agreed to meet with a woman who was seeking to have a position within the Ministry of Health .
In a press conference last Tuesday, December 7, the head of the Ministry of Health assured that no recruitment was made that evidences influence peddling and that the person in question only went to his office once on November 11, date in the one who also asked a legal advisor for a job that was ultimately not awarded.
After reiterating this version, the minister ruled out that his permanence in the Cabinet could affect the government’s management.
