The former Minister of Health, Hernando Cevalloscriticized the management of his successor Jorge Lopez due to the “lack of speed” to apply the doses of pediatric vaccines against Covid-19 to children between 5 and 11 years old, which is why more than one million 40 thousand doses expired this Saturday, April 30.
In that sense, he denied that there was an excess in the purchase of vaccines, in response to the Deputy Minister of Public Health, Joel Candia, who accused the Cevallos management of acquiring too many doses from the Pfizer laboratory, which would cause their loss and affect the state resources.
From Twitter, the former head of Health specified that the acquisition of vaccines was calculated to immunize 80% of the child population.
According to a report from the Comptroller General of the Republic, the batch of vaccines against Covid-19 that expired on April 30 entered the Ministry of Health warehouses between January 22 and March 17.
This body also warned that there are one million vaccines that will expire on September 30.
