The former Minister of Health, Hernando Cevallosassured that there is a sector of Peru Libre that is against vaccines against COVID-19, although he said that the government party has to recognize the effort that was made in that sector.
In statements to RPP Radio, he said he did not know if a sector of the party led by the former regional governor of Junín Vladimir Cerron pressed for him not to continue in office and to put in his place Hernan Condori Machado.
“I have no idea about that (that Peru Libre pressured me not to continue in the Minsa). I hope not because I have talked with several leaders of Peru Libre in the best way “he expressed.
“Except for a sector that is against vaccines, I understand that Peru Libre has to recognize that a great effort has been made from the Health sector not only in vaccination, but in guaranteeing a sufficient number of beds, oxygen, decentralization more important”he added.
In this sense, Cevallos stated that he does not know the trajectory of Condori Machado, but understands that it must be a “person qualified to take office”. He was also confident that vaccination against COVID-19 will continue.
“I think (vaccination against COVID-19) is going to continue. When we talk about a sector of Peru Libre, we are talking about a minority sector. I do not know the qualifications of the new Minister of Health, I understand that he must be a qualified person to assume the position “he underlined.
As recalled, Hernan Condori Machado replaces Hernando Cevallos as the new Minister of Health in the midst of the third wave of COVID-19 and the vaccination of children and adolescents.
