The president of the Control Commission, Hector Ventura (Popuar Force), considered that the president “ran away” by refusing to receive the parliamentary group in government palace and thus avoid giving their statements in the framework of the investigations into the Sarratea case.
The parliamentarian pointed out that the group he leads has suspicions that make them presume that the head of state would have committed crimes of corruption, so they changed their status to investigated. In addition, he stressed that the president himself was the one who asked to testify this Monday, but in the end he did not comply with what was agreed.
“I have stated that in the Oversight Commission we have serious suspicions and irrefutable elements of conviction that unfortunately lead us to presume that the President of the Republic is responsible. “Now, changing his condition to investigated, the same president has requested that the date of his statement be rescheduled, which was for today. Consequently, what the president has done is run away so as not to attend to the Supervisory Commissionprecisely to delimit responsibilities”, he added.
In that sense, Ventura said that Castillo Terrones has not behaved appropriately and asserted that he has disrespected Congress and all citizens.
“Here the attitude of the President peter castle, inappropriate behavior. It was a total lack of respect for the Congress of the Republic and even more so for all Peruvians because the president himself had requested the meeting for today at 10 am”, he stated.
Also, the president of the Control Commission noted that the President Pedro Castillo could have committed a constitutional violation by refusing to testify for this investigation.
“Article 97 (of the Constitution) and article 88 of the Congress regulations state that authorities, public officials and any citizen must attend all investigations.. This will be the subject of analysis so that later, in the final report, we can refer this to the Subcommittee on Constitutional Accusations.”, he explained.
