Héctor Rodríguez urges to build a scientific revolution in Venezuelan education

In an emphatic call to transform the national education system, the Minister of Popular Power for Education, Héctor Rodríguez, urged Wednesday to the entire Venezuelan society to promote a deep scientific revolution in the educational field.

During the awards ceremony of the first Venezuelan Youth Olympiad of Sciences, held at the Venezuelan Planning School, Rodríguez stressed that world education is going through an unprecedented crisis, marked by the sequelae of the Covid-19 Pandemia, the rise of social networks and the accelerated advance of artificial intelligence.

“I summon the whole society and the most brilliant minds of Venezuelan society, that we have them and are many, to push together and together a deep revolution of the sciences in Venezuelan education,” said the minister before the award -winning young people, teachers and researchers.

Rodríguez underlines the need to rethink the educational model against current challenges, especially the impact of digital platforms on the mental development of children and adolescents. In this sense, he called to reflect, investigate and correct the aspects of the educational system that have not yet been adequately addressed.

The head of the educational portfolio also referred to international studies that warn about the negative effects of excessive use of social networks and digital technologies in child cognitive development.

In turn, he reaffirmed the importance of rescuing the positive experiences of Venezuelan educational history as a basis for planning this transformation: “A deep revolution of science throughout the Venezuelan education system.”

With this call, the Ministry of Popular Power for Education seeks to mobilize researchers, teachers, students and families in a collective effort to renew the teaching of science and prepare new generations for the challenges of the 21st century.
