Héctor Molina is the new president of AINEP

The Association of Private Educational Institutions (AINEP) elected Héctor Molina as the new president for the period 2023-2025, replacing Jorge Luis Peláez, in the assembly held on Tuesday, January 24, 2023.

Pointing out the emphasis of his work plan, Molina stressed the need to strengthen the effective cooperation that characterizes the association that currently brings together more than 160 private educational institutions and to publicize the impact of the private pre-university education sector in society and in the performance of education in the country.

“Because we exist, 4% of GDP is distributed among 75% of students in the Dominican Republic. We as a sector, through our schools, are the ones who provide education to the remaining 25% and the families who choose us,” he stated, underlining the value of schools as an option for families who, for various reasons, choose to not send their children to the public system.

The new president announced that the AINEP will work to provide access to useful and reliable data to facilitate administrative and academic decision-making by member schools. In the same way, it will continue to organize updating activities such as the breakfasts established by the previous board thanks to the initiative of its president, Jorge Luis Peláez, and will try to expand this line of action with academic update events for managers.

During the event, Peláez presented the management report of the outgoing board, in which he stressed the institutionalization of the association and the strengthening of the relationship with public and private institutions. He highlighted the timely response of the AINEP to the challenges that the Covid-19 pandemic imposed on the education sector, and its contributions during the different phases of the crisis, as well as its commitment to the search for creative and responsible solutions.

Together with Molina, the new board of directors will be made up of Víctor Martínez and María de Lourdes Bobadilla, first and second vice president; Hilda Karina Abreu and Alexandra Martino, first and second secretary; Delore Sanchez, treasurer; Guara González, Father Mauricio Valdibia and José Alejandro Aybar, members.

Within the framework of the activity, Father Jorge William Hernández received special recognition for his significant contributions in favor of the Dominican educational sector.

The event was attended by the Ombudsman, Pablo Ulloa; César Dargam, Executive Vice President of CONEP; María Walesca Álvarez and Darwin Caraballo, president and executive director of EDUCA; Olga Espaillat, president of the Dominican Union of Private Educational Institutions (UDIEP); Oscar Amargos, Vice Minister of Supervision and Quality Control of MINERD and María Elena Cambero, director of private schools of the ministry; Tammy Vázquez, manager of Public Relations of Claro and Carolina Lantigua manager of Sustainability of the same company, among other personalities and representatives of the member institutions of the association.
