One of the sons of the leader of the Coordinadora Arauco Malleco (CAM), Héctor Llaitul -who is currently in preventive detention for the crimes of wood theft, usurpation and attack against authority-, was arrested in a procedure after an arson attack registered in Temuco, La Araucanía region.
According to preliminary police information, a group of unknown persons carried out an arson attack in a rural area located between Lautaro and Galvarino, where they burned at least 10 forestry work equipment, including trucks and machinery.
At the scene, a CAM adjudicatory canvas was found where they mention its 25 years of existence and the various sabotage actions that have been carried out. After the support of neighbors in the sector, it was possible to find the whereabouts of seven people who would have participated in the attack.
In total, two people were arrested; Among them is a son of the head of the CAM, who a few days ago was reformed by the La Araucanía Prosecutor’s Office, which six-folded the amount of the appraisal of stolen wood that he was accused of.
