Héctor Garibay, a renowned Bolivian distance runner, was unable to complete the Valencia Marathon in Spain after injuring one of his heels while running kilometer 32, finding himself only 10 from the finish line. This test was the last of the year for the athlete born in Oruro.
339 top-level runners participated in the competition, and Garibay was in seventeenth position. The marathon began at 03:15 HB on Sunday, and the Bolivian maintained an intense pace that allowed him to be with the first platoon. However, after reaching kilometer 32, just 10 from the finish line, he felt severe pain in one of his heels, which led him to abandon the test.
The doctors quickly treated Héctor and decided to transfer him to a nearby hospital to be examined by a specialist.
