The resignation of the deputy director of the National Police, Héctor Ferreira, who is being investigated in the case of Alejandro Astesiano, the former custodian of Luis Lacalle Pou accused as the alleged leader of a large organization that sold false passports to Russian citizens, the which operated in Torre Ejecutiva.
“We inform that the general commissioner (R) Héctor Ferreira resigned from his position as national deputy director of the Police, which was accepted by the Minister of the Interior, Luis Alberto Heber, thanking him for his years of service,” says a note published by himself. The Secretary of State added that, in the coming days, the person who will replace Ferreira in his position will be announced.
Declared as investigated
Last week, the now former police deputy director was called for questioning by the prosecutor Gabriela Fossati, who is handling the case of Astesiano and the false passports.
The foregoing occurred because he was mentioned in the chats with Astesiano and he came to make comments, for example, about the senator from the Front, Alejandro ‘Pacha’ Sánchez, whom he called “sorrete”, “scourge”, “dirty shit” and “a reverend HDP.”
In addition to Ferreira, they testified with other hierarchs of the Ministry of the Interior, such as the general director of Police Information and Intelligence, Claudio Correa, and the general director of Security Company Inspection, Henry de León.
