Héctor Brands meets with the Ombudsman, after he was declared a ‘hostile and obstructive official’

The director of the Panamanian Institute of Sports (Pandeportes), Héctor Brands, went this Wednesday afternoon to the offices of the Ombudsman to answer for the accusation that this entity made of him as a “hostile” and “hindering” official.

In the meeting between Héctor Brands and the defender Eduardo Leblanc, the director of Pandeporte argued that one of the cases in which the Ombudsman’s Office was based on declaring him a hostile and obstructive official dates back to 2014, when he (Brands) neither He wasn’t even an official.

The other case, Brands added, is a complaint filed in Pandeportes, and once the situation was clarified, the complainant withdrew his complaint. “Those who know me know that Héctor Brands is an accessible person, and now that I perform public functions, as director of Pandeportes, I know the obligations of the position and maintain open-door policies,” he noted.

After the meeting, the Ombudsman said that it was pertinent to clarify that the statement made by the entity in his charge was not against the person of Héctor Brands, but rather a point was made towards the legal representative of the entity. Leblanc maintained that it was concluded that it was a lack of internal communication in Pandeportes.

The Ombudsman’s Office made the statement against Brands just after it emerged in the media that the ombudsman’s wife, Carolina Torres, is appointed as an advisor to the Budget Commission, chaired by Deputy Benicio Robinson.
