The Minister of the Interior, Louis Albert Hebermet this Friday the 19 police chiefs of Uruguay and conveyed his “satisfaction” for what has been done so far, in terms of public security, according to what sources from the ministry told The Observer.
Furthermore, the minister expressed his support for the work in each department. The meeting, which was intended to be reserved, began at 10:00 and lasted for five hours, in a police farm of the Canelones Headquarters.
From the Ministry of the Interior they indicated to The Observer that it was a Work meetingwhere Heber explained about coordination and planning that are expected to be carried out between now and the end of the year.
In addition, the police chiefs were informed of the crime figures by department, among other details, which made it possible to analyze the situation by region of the country.
Heber reiterated his statements regarding the main objective of the government in matters covered by his portfolio: continue working for coexistence and citizen security. The message was in line with what was expressed by President Luis Lacalle Pou during the electoral campaign, and also after assuming the Presidency.
After the meeting, Heber made the request public through Twitter, and wrote: “Together with the ministerial command of the Ministry of the Interior, police chiefs from all over the country and national directors, we carried out a very positive evaluation and planning meeting for the next months”.
From the portfolio they denied that issues involving Heber had been on the table in recent days and that generated controversy. For example, the crossing with the Human Rights Institution (Inddhh), operations by the Law of Urgent Consideration (LUC) and campaign issues were left out of the discussions, according to official sources.
