In a brief press conference in which there were no questions, Minister Luis Alberto Heber confirmed the changes in the three main positions of the National Police in “the need to generate a new stage.”
“A new stage in which the successes that this Ministry of the Interior has had in the fight against organized crime are consolidated. A new stage of consolidation and deepening. Although we have been declining, we want better results in terms of reducing robbery, theft, homicide, rustling and domestic violence,” said the minister.
“Our people need more security. We will continue to insist and give the last drop of our energy so that people feel safer in the neighborhoods. Has nothing to do [los cambios] with other matters that the Ministry has on hand,” Heber said.
José Manuel Azambulla will be the new National Director as of March 1, the current Colonia Police Chief Jhony Diego will be the new Deputy Director and Efraín Abreu will be the new Executive Deputy Director.
