The Minister of the Interior, Luis Alberto Heber, and the President of the Republic, Luis Lacalle Pou, will meet this Wednesday, said the Secretary of State. The reason for the meeting responds to the presentation of an action plan by the minister, which aims to increase the police presence on the streets.
“Violence has to motivate us not to cross our arms, violence implies that we have to act. That performance is not abandoning what we came from and thought was good. It is an incentive and a more comprehensive plan,” Heber said at a press conference. The minister was in the Peñarol neighborhood in a special operation after a triple homicide in the zone.
“Tomorrow I am going to have a meeting with the president and we are going to establish a course of action. The important thing is that we have a deployment action plan. The president is asking for results and it is right for him to ask for it, because the population, the people are asking us for results,” said the minister in statements recorded by Telemundo.
“We do not cross our arms or minimize the homicides, nor do we generate a situation of public alarm. We have to act more,” he added.
