The heavy rain registered in the department of Cauca Valley have caused emergencies in several municipalities. The authorities have been deployed to address the situation.
“Due to the heavy rainfall that has occurred in recent hours in the center, north and south of the department, various emergencies such as floods have been caused,” mentioned the Secretary of Risk Management of the Valley, Francisco Tenorio.
One of the affected points was the municipality of Genevawhere a glide caused the closure of a road in the rural area.

“We are in the Barranco Alto village, at the point of San Felipe, where a mass movement of large magnitudes completely blocked access to the community,” he stated.
Tenorio indicated that it was deployed yellow machinery to clear the road and facilitate community traffic.
“At this moment we are attending this point and then we will move on to another located one kilometer away, where another mass removal phenomenon is blocking the road and preventing the passage of students and farmers with their products,” the official said.
The secretary emphasized that this was not the only point affected by the rainfall; Another rural sector of the municipality also presented damage.
“Once this work is done, we will move to Novillera in the upper part, where we also have a mass removal phenomenon of great magnitude and where an intervention will be carried out,” he indicated.

Other emergencies
He Cali Volunteer Fire Department reported an emergency in the early morning, after several people were trapped after a sudden rising in the river Pance.
“The flood leaves a group of athletes in a moderate risk area. Contact is made with 14 peopleincluding one initially reported missing,” the institution indicated.
The Firefighters indicated that the group of athletes was in good health and was transferred to safe areas.
