So far, the authorities had not reported significant effects on homes or other infrastructure, or damage to residents in flooded towns.

“Persistent rainfall saturated drainage systems, causing significant accumulations that hindered vehicular and pedestrian mobility,” reported Then Yuelkis Ortiz Barceló, first secretary of the Communist Party in Granma.
Intense rains are common on the island during the summer months, framed in the rainy season that covers from May to October.
When atmospheric systems are formed such as trough and low cold, rainfall can intensify and become sudden and dangerous events, especially for people living in low areas or in places with poor drain system.
