The forecast from the National Institute of Meteorology (INMET) for tomorrow (26) and Friday (27) is cloudy weather, with heavy rain, “which could cause impacts on the population” in several areas of the country, mainly in the Southeast region.
According to the institute, the cause is the likely formation of a new South Atlantic Convergence Zone (ZCAS), responsible for precipitation in the Central-West and Southeast regions. But the rains should concentrate in the southwest of the Amazon, “crossing the Central-West and Southeast regions, all the way to the Atlantic Ocean”.
The expectation is that the rains should continue until Monday (30), mainly in the regions of the state of São Paulo, up to the border with Minas Gerais, “where the accumulated rainfall could exceed 100 mm in 24 hours”.
São Paulo
The Civil Defense of São Paulo issued a state of alert for the capital and other municipalities in the metropolitan region, coast and interior late this Wednesday afternoon (25). But, despite the heavy rain, until the closing of this report there was no record of serious occurrences in the capital and metropolitan region, but with several flooding points.
In the other mesoregions of São Paulo, the weather will also include occasional rain showers and thunderstorms, with the arrival of new low pressure areas from the south of the country, associated with a distant extratropical cyclone off the coast of Rio Grande do Sul.
In a statement, A Enel, the company responsible for distributing electricity in the state, reported that 38 thousand properties were left without power in the metropolitan region, the majority of which were in the capital: 26,587.
