According to Sepe’s coordinator, Beatriz Lugão, the situation is critical, as the temperature ranges from 35 to 45 degrees in the workplace and in the classrooms. There are 200 establishments that are not air conditioned, including kitchens. For her, the situation of the lunch boxes is inhuman, because when they turn on the stove, the thermal sensation is more than 60 degrees.

“We have very glaring situations in municipal networksas is the case of São Gonçalo, with a municipal network of 119 schools and only 20 are air -conditioned. The governments were not caught by surprise. The heat wave has been extending throughout the year and there is no air conditioning project in most municipalities of the state. The situation is much more urgent and much more tragic in the Baixada Fluminense region and large river where heat is more intense than in the interior of the state. It is impossible to teach, it is impossible to learn, impossible to work on kitchens with the heat that is doing, ”said Beatriz.

In some cases, school units are allowed to reduce the face -to -face workload by up to 50% or rotate classrooms in the more refrigerated classrooms. Schools that decrease their schedules should make pedagogical content available through technological resources.
