Hearing of the Odebrecht case will be public and televised

This Monday, July 18, the hearing of the Odebrecht corruption case will be public and broadcast through the media, as decided by the Judicial Branch, after journalistic unions requested access to this judicial process.

According to the Judicial Branch of Panama, journalists will be allowed access, in addition to being broadcast through the media and digital platforms. According to the schedule, the hearing is scheduled to take place from July 18 to Friday, August 5, 2022 and will be held in the Superior Liquidation Court, located in the Gil Ponce Palace of Justice.

In case of inconveniences and that this hearing is suspended, the alternative date established for this hearing is from September 12 to 30, 2022.

“Guaranteeing the principle of publicity, the Judicial Branch will offer an audio and video signal to the different social media so that they can transmit, in real time, the preliminary hearing of the so-called ‘Odebrecht’ case,” the authorities said in a statement.

The online broadcast of this hearing will be available on the Judicial Branch’s YouTube channel.

Let us remember that this judicial process is related to the bribes paid by Odebrecht to former officials for the award of public works, in this hearing there are 83 accused for the alleged commission of the crimes of money laundering and corruption of public servants.
