Health services, the sector with the most female presence

Great Place to Work presented the report ‘The work environment from the perspective of women’ edition 2023, which reiterates that “gender is not a factor that significantly influences the opinion of employees in Colombia regarding the work environment of organizations”.

Among the findings of the report, in which more than 840 organizations and more than 670,000 employees participated, it stands out that the female participation in the workplace is 47%, versus 53% corresponding to the masculine. Regarding the female participation in the age segments, it stands out that 51% of women who work in companies are under 23 years of agewhile the percentage of women between the ages of 23 and 30 is 49%.

For his part, the contribution of women between the ages of 30 and 39 is 48%; between 39 years and less than 52 years it reaches 45% and of 52 years or more the percentage is located at 38%.

Academic training is another of the lines that the report considered. This is how it stands out that 32% of the women who are in the organizations have a professional career, compared to 28% that corresponds to the participation of men. Compared to higher education, in which specialization, master’s or doctoral studies are found, female participation is 29%, versus 26% corresponding to the percentage of men.

When looking at female participation by sector, the report highlighted that Health services is the one with the most women (74%), followed by social services (65%) and banks (60%). However, among the sectors that have the greatest participation of men are: industry (except Food Products and Chemicals and Derivatives) with 77%, hydrocarbonros and mining (74%), and storage and transport (69%).

The sectors with the greatest gender balance are professional business support services (except administrative services), wholesale and retail.

The best places to work in Colombia

The report also highlighted the ‘Best Places to Work’ ranking. Among the organizations that have up to 300 collaborators, the following stood out: Integral Project Management SAS -GIP (in first position), followed by Parque Arauco Colombia, Dell Colombia Inc, Novo Nordisk and Amgen Biotecnológica SAS

In organizations with between 301 and 1,500 collaborators, the following stood out: finsocial (first of all), Regional Port Society of Cartagena, Ceiba Software House, Cartagena Container Terminal (Contecar) and Allianz Seguros.

For their part, in the list of organizations with more than 1,500 employees, the following stood out: Colombia (first of all), Scotia Global Business Services Free Business Zone, Agroavicola Sanmarino, Scotiabank Colpatria, Sophos Solutions, Nueva EPS, Banco de Occidente, National Open and Distance University (Unad), Flores Ipanema, Lean Solutions Group.
