The health portfolio stated that ventilation consists of bringing fresh air from outside to an interior site, so that stale air comes out of that space and maintain or improve air quality.
Having adequate ventilation goes a long way in reducing the concentration of these viral particles and they are less likely to be inhaled.
Likewise, it is important to always ensure the interchangeability of air in closed environments through cross ventilation; this is achieved by opening doors and windows.
It should be remembered that adequate ventilation is only one of the preventive actions to reduce the risk of transmission of respiratory infections. Others are the use of the mask correctly, washing hands frequently, covering the nose and mouth with the inside of the flexed elbow or with a tissue when sneezing or coughing and vaccination when possible.
Ways to improve ventilation in closed spaces
• Open doors and windows to increase the flow of air in the environment, whenever possible and when weather conditions allow it. If very hot or cold weather conditions are recorded, the windows can be opened for a few minutes every hour to ventilate. A barely open window can even bring in beneficial air from outside.
• When traveling by car, open the windows whenever possible. The more open, the better. If air conditioning is used, select the fresh outside air intake option.
