Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader This Tuesday, he headed the forty-sixth meeting of the Council of Ministers, whose main objective was to prioritize ten major goals within the Government Plan for 2028 and its monitoring and follow-up.
The information was released by the Minister of the Presidency, José Ignacio Paliza; the general director of Ethics and Government Integrity and the vice minister of Government Monitoring and Coordination, after finishing the meeting at the Presidential Palace.
“This Advice “It marked the beginning of a new system for tracking and monitoring the main bets that the Government makes to achieve the country we want,” said the minister.
Among the goals prioritized by the Government for 2028 are:
Maintain a healthcare system that raises the average age of the population to 77 years; a comprehensive citizen security policy that maintains the homicide rate in one digit per 100 thousand inhabitants and reduces the deficit of housing.
In addition, consolidate the country’s middle class, increasing from the current 40.3% to 50% of the population, bring the general poverty rate to 15%, also achieve a GDP per capita of 15,000 dollars by 2028, as part of the Meta RD 2036 project and maintain the growth of annual exports, as well as Foreign Direct Investment.
Likewise, reaching 14 million tourists, increase the formal employment rate from 44% to 50% and keep the unemployment rate below 5% and convert the school as the center of community development and double the number of university graduates from STEM careers.
Additionally, implement a policy of intensive investment de water to improve the supply and consistency of the resource in homes, declare the Dominican Republic free of hunger and eradicate dirt floors in homes, thus eliminating extreme poverty in the country.
Finally, it was established to reduce the rate of deaths from traffic accidents to less than 20 per 100 thousand inhabitants. Currently the rate is 27 per 100 thousand.
To ensure the achievement of these efforts, the Government It will have a system of articulation of the presidential cabinets already created.
Likewise, to ensure that the policies are delivered as planned, we will implement the Compliance Units monitoring methodology, or “Delivery Units”, a scheme successfully implemented in the United Kingdom, which will guarantee reporting, support and rapid decisions on priorities.
“In addition, focused on real delivery of results to the people, from now on we will work on the demands that arise from the Single Registry of Territorial Demands (RUDCT), which contains the most felt needs of each territory,” stated the minister.
Among other information released, are the unification of the monitoring and evaluation systems in the new Institutional Performance Evaluation, which measures the management quality according to satisfaction and direct impact on citizens; and the expansion of the offer of Public Administration Monitoring Systems (SISMAP) to health, education and security services, in order to ensure the quality of public services.
Paliza, as technical secretary of the Council of Ministers, stated that “with these measures the effort that the Government of President Luis has already been making is confirmed. Abinader to invest and impact in a positive way the quality of life of the people.”
